The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers is the civil engineering branch of the U.S. armed forces. The "Army Corps" is also responsible for flood protection along U.S. waterways and manages Section 10 of the Clean Water Act pertaining to dredging and filling of waterways. Any project proposing to place any concrete or earthen fill in a stream or river must obtain approval from the "Army Corps".
